Loyal Companions

A golden Labrador mother sits with the particular contentment of a dog who has long since made peace with the chaos of puppies — one nuzzling her chin with adoring insistence, the other standing on its hind legs and pushing into her side with its tongue out, entirely delighted with itself. The mother's expression says everything: eyes half-closed, mouth open, utterly at ease in the middle of it all. Painted in warm golden ochres with confident, affectionate brushwork. Hand-painted in watercolour in my London studio.
