MY STORY

Every creature I paint is a small act of witness. A record that this animal existed, that its beauty mattered, that it deserves to be celebrated and protected. When I pick up a brush, I'm not just making a card — I'm making a case for the natural world, one watercolour at a time.

The Journey

I have spent my career following the same things — beauty, craft, and a deep belief that what we make in the world should mean something. It just took different shapes along the way.

I began in sustainable finance, working at the intersection of investment and environmental responsibility. It was a world of rigour and precision, but also of genuine conviction — a belief that how we deploy capital matters, that the natural world has value beyond what any balance sheet can capture. That conviction has never left me. It simply found a different form of expression.

From finance I moved into fashion, drawn by colour, form, and the power of a beautifully made thing to communicate something wordless. I built my own fashion business, and in doing so discovered that what I loved most was not the industry itself, but the act of creation — the moment when an idea becomes something tangible and real.

In 2016 I returned to painting. Not as a hobby, not as a side project, but as the thing I had always been moving toward. I picked up watercolour and found, almost immediately, that it was the medium I had been looking for my whole life — fluid, vibrant, alive, unforgiving in the most beautiful way. I began painting the nature I have always loved — animals, birds, botanical details, the quiet intricacy of a flower — and those fashion years never quite left me either. You can see their influence in a small collection of cards that celebrate style, elegance, and the beauty of a well-considered aesthetic.

Bozena Allison Studio was born from that moment. It is where everything I have learned — the rigour of finance, the craft of fashion, a deep and longstanding belief that the natural world deserves our care — comes together in work I am genuinely proud of. The values that shaped my professional life are the same values that shape every card I paint.

The Studio

I work from my studio in London, where the light is best in the morning and the silence is the kind that lets you concentrate. Each design begins as a hand-painted miniature original — brushes, water, pigment, good paper, and time. There are no shortcuts and no digital shortcuts. What you hold in your hands when a card arrives is a direct descendent of that original painting, and I think you can feel that when you hold it.

The Commitment

Nature is not just the subject of my work — it is the reason for it. The natural world is under extraordinary pressure, and I believe that art has a role to play in how we respond: by building appreciation, by making people stop and look, by reminding us what we stand to lose.

Every card in the Save the Seas Collection carries that commitment into practice. £1.50 from every purchase goes directly to the Marine Conservation Society — the UK's leading charity dedicated to protecting our seas, shores, and the remarkable creatures that depend on them. When you send one of these cards, you are doing more than sharing a beautiful thing. You are part of something larger.

This is only the beginning. Conservation partnerships are central to where Bozena Allison Studio is heading, and future collections will continue to put the protection of the natural world at their heart. Thank you for being part of that.
